This photo won the “Pulitzer Prize” in 1994 by Kevin Carter. The picture shows a sick and hungry child crawling to the UN food camp located about half a mile away. The vulture is waiting for the kid to die so it can eat him. This was a very shocking picture and no one knows what became of the kid, not even Kevin Carter.  We often see such strong pictures and wonder why the photographer didn’t do anything to help. Kevin Carter got a lot hate for not helping the child and leaving as soon as he took the photograph. Three months after he received the Pulitzer Prize, he committed suicide because of depression.  I will never understand why he left the kid there and walked away.
Kevin Carter’s last words in his suicide letter:
"I’m really, really sorry. The pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy does not exist… depressed … without a phone … money for rent … money for child support … money for debts … money!!! … I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings and corpses and anger and pain … of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners … I have gone to join Ken if I am that lucky.”

honestly im glad his white ass killed himself how can u watch a impartially watch child die for a photo

The paragraph above is VERY inaccurate. The vulture was not “waiting for the child” to die it just happened to be there which is why Carter took the photo in the first place. Carter and other photographers were travelling with the UN as they distributed food around the area, so while the parents of the children went to get the food they left their children briefly. Meaning THEIR PARENTS WERE RIGHT THERE. HE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS WERE GETTING FOOD FOR THEM. After he took photos of the girl he chased the vulture away and it’s very likely that her parents came back to her and fed her. Kevin Carter was a brilliant photographer and what happened to him is really sad. I wish people would actually take the time to learn about this stuff before they go disrespecting a dead man.
